Quick Review: Oregon’s 6th Annual Wine, Cheese & Pear Jubilee

Yesterday I attended the “Oregon’s 6th Annual Wine, Cheese & Pear Jubilee” at Willamette Valley Vineyards. The event cost 5 bucks to get into, which was not bad for an epicurean event. It was a bit lacking with the Pear portion as there were samples by one vendor and only four types of pears to choose from. Also the logistics of the event left a little to be desired. I am a big fan of the Willamette Valley Pinot Gris (90 points by Wine Enthusiast) so I was glad to see that they had three options in the “Great Room” with the music and cheese vendors as well as four others to try in their tasting rooms. The event was something else for us to do on a Saturday, but nothing I can’t miss next year. It could have been better with a wider selection of Vendors and better crowd management. I enjoyed the music and really can’t scoff at the $5 dollar entry fee. For those of you that have not  been to their tasting room before it is a must see, plus they typically offer a free tasting of their basic wines and a “select” tasting for a fee, which allows you to sample some estate wines and other seasonals. I also went to Ankeny Hills Wineryand picked up a bottle of their 2007 Marechal Foch and also Emerson Vineyards where I purchased a 2007 Chardonnay. I will review these wines as we open them. Lastly  - we finished off with Pizza in Corvallis and Lagunitas IPA, which is just simply a very hoppy and delightful IPA.
